Educational Models and Role Models
While early camps focused on teaching about the wilderness and instilling a Pioneer spirit, later summer camps focused on different goals. Instead camps strove to encourage personal growth, to teach campers about their Jewish heritage, to instill teamwork and health through sports, and to help students enjoy creative crafts. Integration of learning and activities became a hallmark of organized summer camps.
